ISTE National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and Performance
Indicator for Teachers
ISTE's NETS for Teachers are the standards for evaluating the skills and knowledge educators need to teach, work, and learn in an increasingly connected global and digital society.
As technology integration continues to increase in our society, it is paramount that teachers possess the skills and behaviors of digital age professionals. Teachers must become comfortable being co-learners with their students and colleagues around the world.
Using technology in the field of education continues to become more prevalent. It is important to use NETS for teachers and students because these standards help to improve learners and instructors. The benefits of using the NETS include:
· Improving higher-order thinking skills, such as problem solving, critical thinking and creativity
· Preparing students for their future in a competitive global job market
· Designing student-centered, project-based, and online learning environments
· Guiding systematic change in our schools to create digital places of learning
· Inspiring digital age professional models for working, collaborating, and decision making.
